EVANGELISM COMMITTEE
Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations
baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have
commended you and lo I am with you always, even to the
end of the age.
The Evangelism committee was formed on the above sound
foundation by this union to accomplish the command of
our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This committee is
directly in charge all the evangelism activities of
the Union, among its roles are strengthening of “weak”
Presbyterian churches in and around the coordinating
branch. It is also responsible for initiating, fostering
and sustaining evangelism programs. This committee has
the mandate of the executive local executive committee
to see to the organization of the popular STUDENTS’-IN-CHURCH
EVANGELISM (SICE). This programme is platform for students
in the coordinating branch to continue the apostolic
ministry of reaching out to our friends, mothers, fathers’
siblings and our children in mostly rural areas in the
Asante, Brong Ahafo and the Northern Presbyteries of
the Presbyterian Church of Ghana with the Unadulterated
Word of God. It accords with the opportunity to rescue
perishing and dying souls. Through these evangelistic
activities many have come to taste of the goodness of
the Lord, many have been healed various kinds of ailments.
These SICE programmes are held at the end of the second
semester for usually 12 days and a follow-up at the
end of the first semester for usually 6 days. At these
programmes some of the activities include dawn broadcast,
House-to-House outreach, open air crusades, schools
visitation, evening services usually Bible studies,
prayer sections, all nights, and not forgetting our
civic responsibilities indulge in communal labour. For
the past five years the Union organized these missionary
activities in the following section of our coordinating
branches:
• Atebubu district in the
Asante Presbytery in 1999
• Bantama district in the Asante Presbytery in
2000
• Ejura Pastoral district also in Asante Presbytery
in 2001
• Northern Presbytery this was organized in conjunction
with all the other coordinating branches and coordinated
by National Council of NUPS-G in 2002
• Asante and Brong Ahafo Presbyteries members
of the coordinating branch were sent to selected districts
in both Presbyteries.
The SICE was particularly significant
since it marked the 175th Anniversary of the existence
of our dear church PCG in 2003.
In line with our constitution, the Evangelism committee
is under the chairmanship of the Evangelism Secretary
of the coordinating branch. At the moment Mr. Adu Kwadwo
Gyimah a final year student in the Department of Planning
of KNUST doubles as the Chairman of this wonderful union.
His word for the entire NUPS-G fraternity is that “He
who wins souls is wise…” be ready to join
onboard the SICE anytime you hear the clarion call.
EVANGELISM IS THE HEARTBEAT OF GOD.
